Shawn’s Turkey Coma Tasting: Scherrer Winery
November 29, 2019 @ 12:00 pm - November 30, 2019 @ 7:00 pm
Shawn’s Turkey Coma Wine Tasting
Secret Stash Pull | Scherrer Winery
Friday 11/29 & Saturday 11/30 | Noon – 7pm
Join Shawn on Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving as we continue the Season of Thankfulness by opening a Secret Stash bottle from our favorite flannel clad winemaker, Fred Scherrer.
After seeing Fred Scherrer in his flannel and vineyard dusted jeans, your first thought might be “is this the winery owner, or the vineyard manager?” and the answer is yes. Fred wears many hats around Scherrer Winery and as a result is possibly one of the most unassuming winemaker/owners we’ve had the honor of meeting. Located in the Alexander Valley AVA of Sonoma County, California, Scherrer Winery focuses on earthy, area specific Pinot Noir and Chardonnays. With the occasional Rosé of Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon thrown into the mix, Fred releases wines when they’re good and ready and not a moment sooner. An incredibly small operation, Scherrer wines are small production, micro-lots, and the releases are often allocated – think 22 cases produced, small! We were allocated a few cases of the Spring 2018 Release Cabernet Sauvignon and we’ve kept it tucked away until we could open it and share it with you. The 2014 Cab is ready to drink now, or can easily hang out in your cellar for a future treat. We recommend a few bottles for aging, quantity makes delayed gratification easier to achieve with something this delicious!
