Thursday Meet & Greet Tasting
Guest: Alex Milligan | David Milligan Selections
Wine Enthusiast 2018 ~ Top 40 Under 40 Tastemaker
Thursday, September 12th | 5:30pm-7pm
We are very excited to host Alex Milligan, a mover and shaker in the wine industry and recently featured in Wine Enthusiast’s 2018 Top 40 Under 40. Alex has spent his life around wine, his father (David Milligan) founded David Milligan Selections in 1995 and Alex has been intrigued ever since. He started pursuing his own wine career path in 2004 (at the young age of 23!) at the famed Sherry-Lehmann wine store in Manhattan. From there his passions and interests grew and in 2006 he joined his father at David Milligan selections, taking the company to new heights with the passion that “A lot of people are intimidate by French wine and they don’t need to be… French wine is for everyone!” He worked the 2012 harvest at Chateau du Trignon (you’ll get to taste their Viognier and ask Alex questions!), and as of last year, Alex has stepped into the role of President at David Milligan Selections. Today Alex is driven by the goal to find new ways to share French wines with a new generation of drinkers, and is demystifying wines at the same time: “Muscadet is NOT sweet. It’s actually drier than Sancerre and excellent with oysters.” Come taste with us, find a new wine (or two) to enjoy this fall, and debunk some myths with us!
Chateau du Trignon Viognier 2018
$20.39 a bottle, $18.12 a bottle by the 6 pack ($108.75)
Savory herbal aromas studded with pops of white and yellow fruit melt into a rich, round refreshing finish. Perfect for fall dishes!
La Berriere Muscadet 2018
$16.89 a bottle, $13.12 a bottle by the 6 pack ($78.72)
Your new go-to-white! This wine is fresh with an ocean depth of minerality and character. Aromas of citrus and zest get your tastebuds going, while a yeasty creaminess brings up the rear for a clean bright zingy aperitif.
Domaine Fournier Pinot Noir 2016
$18.99 a bottle, $14.78 a bottle by the 6 pack ($88.68)
Bright berry aromas lead way to elegant and smooth tannins, a touch of spice on the finish brings a brilliant pop to the glass. Great with pork and chicken.
Chateau du Pizay Morgon 2018
$18.29 a bottle, $16.25 a bottle by the 6 pack ($97.50)
Serious and bold. Dark fruits aromas roll out of the glass, held in place by firm tannins, a core of bright acidity whispers secrets of aging potential and power.
Domaine du Vieux Lazaret Chateauneuf du Pape 2015
$38.09 a bottle, $33.95 a bottle by the 6 pack ($203.70)
Rich, warm, tantalizing finesse. Spicy, earthy aromas followed quickly by bright, rich stone fruits will have you feel like you’re sipping wine on a hammock, in the middle of a fall orchard in full harvest mode.
No RSVP needed, this tasting is $15/person and does include a paired Nibbles Plate.
